Matcha House plans late summer opening near downtown Phoenix

Matcha House is preparing to open near downtown Phoenix in late August or early September. Owner Rocio Sheyko is returning to the cafe business after previously operating Matcha Grove in Gilbert.

Matcha House is preparing to open near downtown Phoenix in late August or early September. The Latina owned cafe comes from Rocio Sheyko, who recently introduced the new concept on social media.

The opening brings Sheyko back to local cafes after her earlier run with Matcha Grove in Gilbert. That shop operated from 2021 to 2023 and focused on ceremonial grade matcha with a fully gluten free menu before it closed.

The new cafe will be near the Phoenix Art Museum and beneath a residential apartment complex. Sheyko chose the area for its central location, walkable streets and downtown culture.

The menu is expected to include ceremonial grade matcha prepared with traditional whisking methods, along with coffee drinks, avocado toast, gluten free waffles and grab and go items. Matcha House plans to hold a soft opening before a grand opening, with dates to be shared through its Instagram page.
