NADU plans second restaurant at Desert Ridge Marketplace

Michelin starred chef Sujan Sarkar is bringing NADU to 21001 N. Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix. The regional Indian restaurant has not announced an opening date.

NADU is planned for Desert Ridge Marketplace at 21001 N. Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix, giving the restaurant its second location after Chicago. The opening date has not been released, but the Arizona restaurant is expected to follow the concept's focus on food traditions from across India.

Chef Sujan Sarkar launched NADU in Chicago in 2025. That first restaurant received a Michelin Bib Gourmand designation and became a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best New Restaurant. Sarkar also owns Indienne, a Chicago restaurant with a Michelin star, and his restaurant group includes Sifr, Swadesi, and NADU.

The name NADU means homeland, and the menu uses dishes tied to different Indian regions and cities. The Chicago menu includes Tangra chili fish, lamb gilafi seekh kebab, Dadar vada pav, benne masala dosa, murgh makhani, Kashmiri roganjosh, and Kerala style beef ularthiyathu. A kebab program uses live fire cooking connected to clay tandoors, charcoal grills, and cast iron surfaces.

The drinks program also follows the regional theme, with Chicago cocktails using ingredients such as turmeric, mango, rose, tea, apricot, kokum, and vetiver. For the Phoenix restaurant, Sarkar is working with Zest Hospitality Group, the team behind Feringhee Modern Indian Cuisine in Chandler. Executive Chef Pujan Sarkar, a longtime mentee of Sujan Sarkar who also oversees Tiya in San Francisco, will lead the kitchen. The space is planned for more than 120 guests and will include artwork by Chicago artist Abhay Sehgal.
