QuikTrip maps out three next-generation Arizona stores for 2027

QuikTrip told ABC15 it is planning three new Arizona stores built around its new “Gen 4” format, with locations in Tucson, Queen Creek, and Casa Grande targeted for 2027. The redesign gives the chain a bigger kitchen, brighter layout, and a store footprint positioned between a standard convenience store and a travel center.

QuikTrip says Arizona is in line for three of its newly redesigned stores, with projects in Tucson, Queen Creek, and Casa Grande now in development for 2027 openings. The company told ABC15 that these locations will use its new “Gen 4” model rather than the older store format still seen in many current construction projects.

According to the report, QuikTrip’s new concept is the company’s first major store redesign in 15 years. The format debuted this month in Tulsa, and the chain says the model was shaped over a three-year process that incorporated employee input and customer feedback before moving into rollout.

The Arizona stores are expected to keep the same general concept and sizing described for the Oklahoma launch. QuikTrip said the new units will be larger than a typical neighborhood store but smaller than a full travel center, aiming to handle heavier food service and a more modern customer flow without becoming truck-stop style sites.

A major part of the redesign is food. QuikTrip told ABC15 that the Gen 4 format nearly doubles the size of the kitchen, reflecting a stronger push into made-to-order meals rather than relying mainly on packaged grab-and-go offerings. The company also highlighted bigger windows and a cleaner, more streamlined layout intended to improve brightness, appearance, and operating efficiency.

For Arizona residents and local commercial corridors, the announcement is a sign that QuikTrip sees room to keep expanding in fast-growing parts of the state beyond the Phoenix core. Queen Creek and Casa Grande continue to add rooftops and traffic, while Tucson remains one of the company’s major southern Arizona markets, making all three locations logical test beds for a larger-format store.
