The Asian Pacific LEAD Academy ended its two-week program designed to provide leadership skill training to Arizona high school students through a comprehensive curriculum that included public speaking, career planning, college preparedness, and cultural competency. The LEAD workshop students developed a deeper understanding of Asian and Pacific Islander culture, history, and current issues through research and presentations. Phoenix Chinese American Citizens Alliance (PCACA) supported ASU’s Asian Pacifica LEAD Academy by inviting the students and staff to a luncheon at Crazy Buffet in Tempe after their field trip to the former WWII Japanese Internment Camp near Sacaton, Arizona. The students also got to meet Mas Inishitito, a WWII Army veteran, who was sent to the facility in 1941.

WII veteran Mas Inoshita (Center) and PCACA members John H. Tang, Benny Yee, and students of ASU’s LEAD Academy were on hand for a lunch at Crazy Buffet in Tempe. PCACA supported ASU’s 2014 LEAD Academy field trip visit to the historical Japanese WWII Internment Camp near Sacaton, Arizona. Mr. Inoshita, who was interned at the camp in 1941, met the students and their leaders after touring the facility on Friday, May 13.

PCACA members supported ASU’s 2014 LEAD Academy and attended a special graduation dinner event at ASU West in Glendale, on Friday, June 20.
