Here is summary for what we should do next: I checked Tina (Sleep Inn) yesterday and was told our group has expanded to 14 families (14 rooms booked) with special group rate ($65+tax). The rooms have been almost sold out and new rate now is $99+tax. They have a media room where we can have our group night activities (play card, chess, music, stories, or whatever for fun, sponsored by ACSE). Kids can swim in nicely warm indoor heated swimming pool. Any one from our ACSE group has the same group rate and 24 hours cancellation policy just in case. Ski-rental: Skier’s Edge Ski Shop at 560 W White Mountain Blvd. Pinetop, AZ 85935 (approx 10 minutes from Show Low on the way to Sun Rise) We can get 10% group discount for ski/boots rental for more than 10 people to show up at the same time. The shop will NOT open till 12:00 noon on 12/25 but extend hours to 7:00 PM on 12/24. For those who like to take advantage for lower-rental and better use of time, we will meet there approx 4:00 PM (or between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM) on 12/24 to get our group rate (approx 20% lower than in Sun Rise). Renting after 3:00 PM counts as one-day charge. http://skiersedgepinetop.com/ For those who like to take a half day ski on 12/24 (12:30 PM – 4:00 PM), you’d better leave early morning to catch it (the best time since few people there for Christmas eve. day). It could be crowded on 12/25, so we’d better to leave hotel at or before 8:00 AM (assuming you have got all ski equipments). There is also a group 10% discount rate for more than 20 lift-tickets at window 6. Hope we all can get there around 8:45 AM. For those who don’t really care group-rate, you can do whatever schedule that you prefer. http://sunriseskiparkaz.com/winter/lift-tickets Finally, a couple of kind advices: (1) The risk is on your side, drive safe and ski safe; (2) Try to establish a good reputation for ACSE (Association of Chinese Scientists and Engineers) to the public – to be professional and gentlemen, as well as having your kids well-disciplined. We are also allowed to bring some snacks, fruits, chips, and water there (provided by ACSE members) with short meeting to discuss our future plans. Meanwhile, you are welcome to join ACSE (annual fee: $20 for individual and $35 for family) to have connection to many on-going events / activities. Kids can definitely enjoy with heated indoor swimming pool (warm enough for every one). The complimentary full-breakfast will open earlier for our group at 6:30 AM (normal is 7:00 AM). We are lucky to have a sunny day on Sunday (since snows continues to this coming Friday morning). But it could be rather cold – high to 38 degree. I also checked major restaurants schedules at Christmas eve: Domino’s Pizza closed at 9:00 PM. KFC at 6:00 PM, McDonald’s till 12:00 midnight. Since we may not arrive at the same time on 12/24. I would say, eat yourself simply and come back for our night group fun from 7PM to 9PM in Media room. We might consider eating at China Wok Buffet with 10% discount group rate that I have requested at 5:30 PM on 12/25 after ski. Here are THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME-LINES: (1) Pick ski equipments at Skier’s Edge around 4:00 PM (12/24); (2) Meet at sunrise at 8:30 AM (12/25); and (3) Gather at Media room at 6:30PM (12/24)
