Ash Fork Free Museum
A fantastic resource for information on both Route 66 and the local area.
About
Located at 901 Old Route 66, and open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Ash Fork Route 66 Historic Museum and Visitor Center is both a fun and educational stop along Route 66. The museum welcomes travelers with engaging exhibits such as a vintage model T, the town's original old one-room jail house, and Native American artifacts.
There is an outdoor history walk, and lots of opportunities to snap the perfect pic. You are sure to enjoy perusing the gift shop brimming with nostalgic Route 66 treasures, or pausing to rest in the shaded picnic areas. The facilities are clean, and this stop is equally suited to families and road trippers alike. Plus, there is plenty of parking for vehicles of all sizes.
The museum curators are a local couple who have lived in the Ash Fork community their entire lives. They are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and are passionate about preserving the history of both this small town and Route 66.
