At 6:40 pm on August 19th, I heard a loud noise in the Villas community. Two Chinese students returning from Safeway witnessed a truck passing through the wall and rolling out from a car wash on Broadway to the front of a small commercial store on Jentilly Road. The big truck not only passed through the wall, but also broke a palm tree in half. The glass and wall of the commercial building opposite were also broken by the flying wall bricks. Two fire engines and a security vehicle arrived at the scene minutes later. According to eyewitnesses, the truck drove from the bar next to the car wash shop to Broadway and headed west, trying to make a U-turn on Jentilly Ln. However, it changed direction and drove straight into the car wash shop, crashing into the wall from south to north. Fortunately, no one was injured. The driver was locked in the car and was unable to get out due to the deformation of the door. Until firefighters arrived and used tools to open the door, the driver was safely rescued.
