> PHOENIX (AP) – At least two Arizona Republican representatives have asked to resign because they are unwilling to vote for Donald Trump at next month’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

So far, 9 of the 58 state representatives have resigned. Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Frank Riggs and a Muslim reform advocate Zuhdi Jasser both said they would go to the convention if it were competitive.

Former California Representative Riggs mentioned that the main reason for his resignation was to focus on justice actions to help his wife fight for peace. However, he also admitted to having "very serious reservations" about Trump as the designated Republican presidential candidate.

Riggs said he’s aware he can’t in good conscience go to Cleveland to vote for the nomination. '

' I guess if there were political consequences to this, I would face these setbacks. ’ Riggs told (Arizona Capital Times).

In his resignation letter to party officials, Jasser called Trump "a daily embarrassing conservatism." The Phoenix doctor said he supports the Republican nominee despite his disagreements on some issues.

However, as a Muslim, Jasser disagrees with Trump’s bill to ban Muslim immigration. He firmly believes that the U.S. government should temporarily halt Muslim immigration until the country can find a better way to eliminate extremists than demonize Muslims.

’ A presidential candidate who can stand on the world’s largest platform cannot shoulder this responsibility if he is unable to deal with the threat of Muslim identity and the idea of theocracy as a threat, and unable to solve the problem of how Muslims and Islam face modernity. ’ Jasser said.
