Phoenix Chinese Bowling Association’s 2017 regular team competition. After more than nine months of fierce competition, Tony Diep’s Shanghai Grill restaurant finally won the championship. This year's awards banquet was held at Hibachi Buffet on the evening of May 29. Trophies and medals were awarded to the winners and sponsors. They also received a large number of raffle coupons from Xinxin Supermarket, Global Buffet, Luk Fook Restaurant, Hibachi Buffet, etc. The dinner was filled with joy and the celebration was over. President Wu Yizhao quoted - The Phoenix Chinese Bowling Association has been established and has been competing for 65 years, making it the oldest bowling club in Alberta. It is rare and valuable. At that time, most of our predecessors ran grocery stores or restaurants. They organized this meeting late at night after work and lacked ordinary entertainment. In addition to playing ball, discussing business ideas, connecting with each other, chatting about daily life, they could also exercise. Players have always come from all walks of life. The Jaya Chinese Restaurant Association has formed two teams with members and employees to participate in the association's competition more than ten years ago, and has won three championships. Entering the finals three times, the results are outstanding, which is also the result of continuous training of new players. This year, Edward Ong (Restaurant Club Team) and John Chan (Global Buffay Team) scored 299 and 298 points respectively (300 is a perfect score), which is commendable. It is reported that the association will continue to provide entertainment benefits for members and employees, and will hold bowling practice and training classes during the summer period from June to August. Interested players or novice players are welcome to participate. The time is every Monday at 9:30 pm at the AMF Bowling Alley (1919 W. Bethany Home Rd. Phoenix). There will be a dedicated person responsible for accompanying the training. For details, please call: Wu Yizhao 623-341-5032
