Ocean Spray Food Company, headquartered in Massachusetts, announced on December 5 that it would expand its recall of its Craisins brand dried cranberry products, including five production dates, code "Best" By" because the bag may contain very small metal fragments. The recall involves 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages of sweetened dried cranberries sold in the West, including Arizona. According to tests, some packaging contains metal fragments as small as hair. Ocean Spray said that if swallowed, it will not cause harm to the body. The recall was first announced on November 25th, with a "best of" date code 17. Ocean Spray said it has not received any consumer complaints about metal fragments and no injuries or adverse effects have been reported. The additional five packages ship to retailers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. Ocean Spray said there are two ways to deal with these preserved fruits. One is to stop eating them immediately and throw them away. If you save the UPC code and best before date, you can contact the company to exchange for a gift certificate. The product batches recalled this time include: Craisins UPC: 00293-000 Best By Dates/Letter: Oct 28 2012 M?0-oz. Craisins UPC: 29456-000 and 29464-000 Best By Dates/Letter: Oct 30 2012 M?8-oz. Craisins UPC: 00678-318 Best By Dates/Letter: Oct 29 2012 M, Nov 8 2012 M, Nov 12 2012 M
