The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is changing the delivery address for the Alien Relative I-130 immigration form. Starting from January 1, 2012, independent I-130 applicants in the United States must mail the application form to the Lockbox in Chicago or Phoenix depending on the area of residence. The new mailing address will be printed on the application form. This practice is designed to balance the workload between the two receipt points and provide faster and more efficient processing. As for the I-485 registered for permanent residence or adjustment of immigration status and the I-130 form mailed together, the delivery location has not changed. These applicants still need to mail the form to the Lockbox in Chicago. Foreign applicants who do not have an immigration office will continue to mail their applications to the Lockbox in Chicago. If the overseas country of residence has an immigration office, the applicant can mail the I-130 form to the Lockbox in Chicago, or submit it to the immigration office with jurisdiction over the area of residence. Applicants should ensure that documents are sent to the correct collection location. Applicants whose Form I-130 is sent to the wrong lockbox may experience processing delays. For questions about the mailing location of application documents, you can call the National Customer Service Center of the Immigration Service at 1-800-375-5283.
