GM recalls 55,000 2013 new cars General Motors (GM) announced on the 4th that it will recall about 55,000 new cars from the 2013 model nationwide because the car may still slide after the owner parked it. GM said the recall affects Cadillac's Escalade, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet's Express, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban; and GMC's Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL vans or SUVs. According to documents submitted by GM to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), some cars have cracks in the parking lock cable or deformed steering wheel locks, which may cause the car to move even after the owner removes the key or turns off the engine. This is part of the company's global recall of more than 69,000 vehicles. In addition to the United States, Canada accounts for 6,310 vehicles, Mexico accounts for 670 vehicles, and other countries account for 7,084 vehicles. GM said it has received reports of crashes or injuries caused by the malfunction. If necessary, the steering column will be replaced free of charge for the owner. The recall will begin on the 22nd, and car owners are expected to receive notification letters soon.
