A good place to go during the Christmas vacation - Go skiing in flagstaff Sunbird reporter Shuai Shuai Flagstaff, AZ - In Arizona, which is famous for its heat and desert, is it possible to ski in winter? The answer is yes! And near Flagstaff, two and a half hours' drive from Phoenix, there is a natural ski resort with excellent conditions - Arizona Snowbowl. Since several people in our group had never skied before, we decided to arrange a two-day trip, one day for learning and one day for practice. The accommodation was set at the ski-lift lodge at the foot of the ski resort. Unfortunately, the plan did not change quickly. Since the distance was farther than we thought, we had already missed the free two hour lesson in the afternoon of the first day when we arrived, so we could only try to learn by ourselves. Beginner practice ground and rest area Although the price of the ski-lift lodge is on the high side (an ordinary standard room during the holiday seasons costs about 130 dollars), and the conditions are relatively average (the air conditioner is noisy). But there are two huge advantages here. One is that it is close, right at the foot of the mountain. It takes only 10 minutes to drive up to the ski resort. Second, you can buy lift tickets at a preferential price. Each room has a buy-one-get-one-free deal every night, which makes the price-performance ratio much higher. One of the advantages of skiing in Arizona is that the weather is not too cold, so you can ditch the bulky clothes, pack light and enjoy the fun of skiing. Many people took advantage of the Christmas holiday to go out for fun, and several parking lots already had 'lot full' signs before 10 a.m. Opened in 1930, Arizona Snowbowl is one of the oldest continuously operating ski areas in the United States. The starting altitude is 9,400 feet and the maximum altitude is 11,500 feet. With a vertical drop of 2,300 feet, there are 777 acres of skiing area and 32 trails, including 37% beginner trails, 42% intermediate trails, and 21% advanced trails. The variety of options also provides unique experiences for skiers of all levels. What we chose this time is one of the longest beginner trails - Hart Prairie, with a length of 3,200 feet and a drop of 650 feet, which is enough for us rookies to practice hard. Wrestling is naturally inevitable. Fortunately, the ski resort for beginners is big enough. You can fall a few times and watch how others ski down. You can learn from others and have fun. After a day and a half of trying and learning, I finally successfully skied the entire Hart Prairie Trail. Although there are many scars on the body, the spectacular view of Grand Canyon from a high place and the fun of driving through the snow at high speed cannot be replicated. If I have a chance next year, I will definitely come again. Cable car, slide, road to the ski resort
