Phoenix ELLEN: Joking about the differences between Chinese and American cultures Directly opposite each other at the east and west ends of the earth, the only place where humans can survive, there are two landmasses of similar size and shape, one called China and the other called the United States. When one side is in daylight and the person's head moves upward, the other side is doing the opposite. This may have resulted in many different thinking and cultural practices. This difference does not matter who is right or wrong, each has its own reasons and reasons for existence. Below I will share some personal opinions based on my experiences and observations during my several years in the United States. It is intended to enhance mutual understanding and communication among the people, and may arouse our thinking and reference. 1. When Chinese people address an envelope, they always put the country first, then the province, city, region, residence, and finally the individual; Americans have the opposite habit. Could it be that the Chinese people’s thinking and culture puts the country first, then the collective, and then the self, while Americans put the individual first? 2. China's stock market has red signs for rising prices and green signs for falling prices; the color code for the U.S. stock market is exactly the opposite. Maybe what is unlucky in one party will be lucky in another party, haha. 3. Sharing and sharing in Chinese are two words and their meanings; these two words in American English are the same word share. When an American says to share with you, you have to weigh your little wallet carefully, haha. 4. In Chinese culture and customs, parents, children, and grandchildren are always a family, and relatives and friends help each other with gifts and gifts in both big and small matters. In American thinking and culture, parents are only a family until their children are 18 years old. After that, their children become independent or have their own partners. They are no longer a family, and the economic interests among relatives and friends must be clearly distinguished. 5. It may be difficult for a Chinese man to say "I love you" to his wife throughout his life, but the hard-earned money will be used by his wife to run the house and raise children. American men can say "I love you" to their wives several times a day, but generally they will not give it to their wives when they make money. Both parties must put their income in the same account. 6. It is understandable and customary for Chinese parents to discipline their children and even beat their wives; it is illegal for Americans to beat their children and wives. 7. Chinese children have to work hard to learn cultural knowledge from an early age, and playing is a luxury that is not done properly. American children pay more attention to learning social etiquette (such as not littering, not making loud noises in public places, caring for the environment, obeying traffic rules, etc.). Playing to their heart's content is a child's legitimate right. 8. Chinese hospitals pay first and then treat patients and administer medicines. The medical insurance department controls doctors not to prescribe too much medicine and hospitals not to provide excessive medical treatment. American hospitals treat patients first and then send bills. The bills are ridiculously high. It is simply a big sap for medical insurance companies and patients, huh. 9. Chinese people always have a cold face towards any stranger; Americans always smile towards strangers they meet. 10. Chinese-style job promotion or hiring requires weighing friendships and relationships; American-style promotion and hiring mostly depends on the suitability of talents and personal personality - personality traits. 11. It is illegal for Chinese people to own guns, but it is not illegal to run a red light; it is legal for Americans to own guns, but they will be caught for violating traffic regulations. 12. Chinese people share a table when eating, talking, laughing, drinking and smoking; Americans share meals when they get together, even children order their own dishes, talk quietly, and do not smoke or drink. 13. China's public transportation is developed and convenient for people; private cars and parking lots are popular in the United States. 14. China's consumption is climbing to the highest level in the first world, and its income is compared with that of the third world; the situation in the United States is developing in the opposite direction. 15. Chinese people's cultural concept is that they are only allowed to have one country. Having other countries means that they do not love their country. Americans can have several countries, as long as your work and life are legal and convenient. This is your personal freedom and has nothing to do with being patriotic or not.
