Costco robs bank business and launches mortgage loan. Costco, a mass merchandiser, not only sells a variety of daily necessities for food, clothing, housing and transportation in the United States, but also started selling coffins in the past few years. Now it is competing with banks for business and launching mortgage services. After a trial period of about a year, Costco recently launched a home loan service in partnership with First Choice Bank and about 10 credit providers on its website. In an interview with CNN, Costco Financial Services Manager Kusika said that this service has completed about 10,000 mortgage signing transactions during the trial period. After the official launch, through extensive promotion to Costco’s millions of members, the number of mortgage transactions is expected to increase significantly. Costco, which is headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, provides mortgage services on the website Costco.com, which allows consumers to follow simple steps to fill in the information and immediately compare prices among different banks, compare prices, interest rates and other details, and choose which operator to borrow from. Cusicka pointed out that Costco currently also provides medical insurance, car insurance and securities trading on behalf of customers for members to choose from. “We’ve always known our members want more financial services,” she said. “We currently offer loans for RVs and boats, and will add general auto loans in the future. We’re also looking into introducing student loans.”
