ASU delays land purchase for Payson campus (Alberta Times) Last month, ASU's planned land purchase for Payson's new campus encountered a minor setback. The purchase, originally planned to be completed at the end of last year, will be postponed until this spring. Payson is located 90 miles northeast of Phoenix. The first phase of the new campus was selected near Arizona Route 260, adjacent to Gila Community College. ASU and the city of Payson have been working on this plan for two years, and their willingness to cooperate remains unchanged. Payson City Councilman told the media that the city council and ASU had differences over the purchase price of the land. The Payson campus will be completed in two phases. It was originally scheduled to begin enrollment in the fall of 2013 after the first phase was completed, and the second phase of the project will also be completed before enrollment in the fall of 2015.
