(Contributed by the Alberta Hualian) The 9th "Taste of Asia” annual fundraising gala was held at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale on the evening of May 10, 2014. At the fundraising gala, APCA presented awards to Dr. Anthony Yeung and Josefina Barron in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community in health care. In addition, APCA also presented awards to St. Luke’s Health Initiatives expressed its most sincere respect for APCA’s initial stage and continuous support over the years. President Wang Weizi and Director Tao Shicheng of the Asia-Pacific Alliance attended this annual fundraising gala. Since its establishment in 2002, APCA’s mission is to improve the health and welfare of the Asian Pacific Islander community in Maricopa County. APCA has been assisting state and local organizations to organize hepatitis B testing, women's health testing, chronic disease examinations, tobacco use prevention and smoking cessation education, and other health activities, and conducts health promotion and awareness activities and educational lectures throughout the year. Dr. Yu Wenjin, a senior overseas Chinese leader in Phoenix, Dr. Wang Xinxin, Dr. Liao Feng, who has served APCA and the community for many years, and other community organization leaders also attended the annual fundraising party
