(Contributed by Alberta Hualian) The 9th annual "Taste of Asia" fundraising gala was held on the evening of May 10, 2014 at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale. At the fundraising gala, APCA presented awards to Dr. Anthony Yeung and Josefina Barron in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community in health care. In addition, APCA also expresses its most sincere respect to St. Luke’s Health Initiatives for its continuous support during APCA’s inception and over the years. President Wang Weizi and Director Tao Shicheng of Hualien of Alberta attended this annual fundraising gala on behalf of Hualian of Alberta. APCA's mission is to improve the health and welfare of the Asian and Pacific Islander community in Maricopa County through empowerment, health promotion and disease prevention. Since its establishment in 2002, APCA has assisted state and local organizations in organizing health activities such as hepatitis B testing, women's health screening, chronic disease screening, tobacco use prevention and smoking cessation education, and conducts health promotion and awareness activities and educational lectures throughout the year. Yu Wenjin, a senior overseas Chinese leader in Phoenix, Dr. Wang Xinxin and Dr. Liao Feng, who have served APCA and the community for many years, and heads of other community organizations also attended the annual fundraising gala.
