This expansion plan will expand Amazon's supply center in Phoenix to more than 4 million square feet. This is Amazon's fourth supply center in Phoenix. Information from company executives indicates that the 400,000-square-foot facility will be located at 6835 W. Buckeye Road. The expansion won't be completed right away, but Amazon says they hope to have it completed this fall. Currently, a large number of online retail packaging and delivery services are performed at three other supply centers in Phoenix. As a sales strategy to reduce consumers' waiting time, Amazon and other online sales providers have established supply centers across the country. Commercial real estate analysts in Phoenix say they're getting a lot of talk from online retailers looking to expand their retail operations into Arizona. This is all due to the impact California's new sales tax will have on online sales. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that state sales taxes cannot apply to online sellers that do not have transit fulfillment centers within the state. California's new sales tax has sent scores of online sellers fleeing. Amazon and OverStock, two of the largest online sellers in the United States, have vowed to exit California.
