Kylie Hartana
"Fan Dance"
At 9:30 pm on January 16th, at the Rainbow All-American Dance Competition, Kylie Hartana from the Art Institute of Alberta impressed the audience with her superb dance skills, bringing a successful conclusion to the 2020 Arizona Division. The audience and the judges all stood up and applauded her, and crowned her with the highest score in folk dance in the 15-19 age group. Just the day before, 10-year-old Jenna Ko from the Alberta College of Art followed in the footsteps of her senior sisters and participated in the dance competition for the first time, winning almost all the awards in the competition!
Kylie Hartana won the 15-19 year old category with "Fan Dance", the crown with the highest score in folk dance! Double Platinum Award, overall High Point, Dancer of the Year title and $500 scholarship. Kylie's "Fan Dance" was warmly welcomed at the Alberta Spring Festival Gala. This is a combination of Chinese Kung Fu and dance. It is both hard and soft, and the movements are difficult. It requires mastering the techniques of kung fu and incorporating dance skills, which combines mechanics and aesthetics to a new level. The teachers at the Art Institute of Alberta also specially selected the program for Kylie Hartana based on her physical condition. The short one-and-a-half-minute program is pleasing to the eye and left unfinished.
Jenna Ko
"Sky Blue"
Jenna Ko (Nana) won the double platinum award in the 8-11 years old category, overall high ponit, best dancer of the year title and $500 scholarship for her dance "Sky Blue". Nana's modern dance also won a platinum award in the competition!
Two years ago, Nana began to study dance at the Alberta College of the Arts. She is the youngest solo dancer at the Alberta College of the Arts and one of the hardest-working students. No matter it is class or vacation, Nana always insists on coming to class regardless of rain or shine. In addition to normal dance classes and technique classes, she also takes extra small classes whenever she has time. Countless days and nights, while her friends were playing, she was the only one in the practice room, pressing her legs, lowering her waist, and practicing her dance skills. In just two years, her hard work has brought fruitful results, and she has become one of the fastest-growing students at the Art Institute of Alberta. Starting from the junior dance class, the teachers from the Art College of Alberta have strict requirements on dance skills, movement beauty and standardization. This is also the basis for children to win awards in the competition.
Congratulations again to the two students for their good results. It needs to be particularly pointed out that the Overall High Point is a very valuable award. It breaks all dance categories and is based on the overall ranking of scores. Only the top ten in each age group can win this award.
The spring break training of the Art Institute of Alberta is in full swing (3/9/20-3/20/20)
Spring break training: AAA spring break training is from 3/9-3/13, and classes from 3/16-3/20 are on Mondays Until Friday 2:30-5:30pm, the price is $40/day. We hope that during this period, the children can practice their basic skills steadily and make greater progress (all children participating in competitions and preparing to dance small group dances must participate in training)
