TOEFL: showing three major changes

The Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organizer of TOEFL, has recently opened the test seats for the 2012 TOEFL exam, and candidates can start booking online. In 2012, a total of 35 examinations were arranged with nearly 100 examination points. Lin Lin, senior specialist in the China Office of the Educational Testing Service, said that demand for the TOEFL test was relatively weak in the first half of the year, while test seats were tight in the second half of the year. From the summer to October, the American Educational Testing Center will release more test seats.

Three major changes in TOEFL in 2012: Candidates must bring their ID cards to take the test; enter the test room at least 30 minutes before the test starts; those who violate regulations such as taking the test for a substitute, using electronic equipment, or entraining will be immediately stopped from taking the test and their results will be cancelled, and they will even be prohibited from applying again.

IELTS: You can apply for score delivery

The 2012 IELTS test has begun to accept registration. A total of 47 test dates are scheduled throughout the year, held at 39 test centers.

The British Consulate General in Guangzhou revealed to reporters that starting from January 4, candidates can apply for score delivery and other services online. Specific measures include officially launching the post-test service platform (PTS) on the official IELTS website, providing one-stop online services, including online application for additional score report delivery, online application for score review, online payment of post-test service fees through a third-party payment platform, and online query of the progress status of various services.

GRE: There are plenty of test slots

Recently, the Educational Testing Service (ETS) has released the test slots for the six GRE (U.S. Graduate Record Examination) exams in the first half of 2012, about once a month, and there are plenty of test slots.

GMAT: There will be reforms in June

According to relevant staff at the GMAT call center of the Examination Center of the Ministry of Education of China, exams are currently held in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and candidates can take the exam once a month.

Yu Jingwei, the Asia Pacific manager of GMAT organizer, said that starting from June 5, 2012, GMAT will be reformed, canceling an essay, and adding "integrated reasoning" points, including 12 questions, scored separately, which test the analytical charts, data and comprehensive reasoning ability valued by business schools. The rest remains unchanged. Applicants can still apply to colleges based on their GMAT scores before June 5, 2012, and colleges will treat old and new scores fairly and reasonably.

SAT: Candidates cannot be transferred to the test on the same day

In the first half of the year, four SAT exams are scheduled in January, March, May, and June. According to the latest regulations issued by the College Board, the SAT AsiaWorld-Expo (Hong Kong) test center will no longer allow candidates to apply for transfers and waitlists on the test day, and is likely to be further expanded to other test centers. Candidates taking the exam this year must have the same name as the name on their pass or passport when registering, otherwise they will not be able to enter the exam room. If candidates find errors in their registration information before the exam, they can promptly contact the relevant departments to make changes to ensure they can take the exam on time.

ACT: Will be set up in mainland China

Starting from 2007, all four-year universities in the United States will accept ACT scores as the admission criteria for universities. Those with a score of 28 or above can apply for top American schools and scholarships. ACT has begun to set up teaching and examination centers in some big cities in China. In the future, relevant examination centers will be set up in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and other cities to provide more convenience for candidates to take the ACT exam.

>TestDaF: Registration for the first test is open

A total of 3 TestDaF exams are scheduled for this year. The first time will be held on April 7. Registration is currently open and will close on February 21. Relevant teachers reminded that the ID number and password will be used as credentials for candidates to log in to the registration system again, and candidates should remember it and keep it properly. The candidates' names will be recorded in Chinese Pinyin and English on the examination materials and certificates. The candidates' Chinese names must be written strictly and standardly.

>Korean Language Proficiency Test: You can take it twice this year

The official website of the Korean Language Proficiency Test recently announced that the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th Korean Language Proficiency Test will be held in 2012. Chinese candidates can register for the 26th and 28th exams. The registration period for the 26th session is from February 1 to 14, 2012, the exam will be from April 14 to 15, and the results will be released on June 4. The registration period for the 28th exam is from August 7 to 20, 2012, the exam will be from October 27 to 28, and the results will be released on December 11.

French TCF language test: one test per week

According to the official website of the French Education Service Center, the deadline for online registration for the TCF exam is January 16, 2012. The exam is held once a week in China and the registration fee is about 1,000 yuan. If candidates want to take the exam, they can log in to the Pastel system to register in time and pay the exam fee at any Bank of China outlet.
