Among them, Chinese buyers ranked second with an investment amount of $9 billion, and Canadian buyers invested $19.8 billion.

The report shows that from March 2011 to March 2012, foreigners invested a total of US$82.5 billion in purchasing US real estate, an increase of 24% over the same period of the previous year.

At the same time, the amount of real estate purchased by foreigners accounted for 8.9% of the total value of U.S. home sales. Among all foreign buyers, 55% come from the following five countries: Canada, China, Mexico, India and the United Kingdom.

Among them, Canadian buyers accounted for 24% of the amount of foreigners buying houses in the United States, ranking first. Chinese buyers ranked second with 11%.
