Highway 87 in Payson is closed due to a tanker rollover. Officials with the state Department of Public Safety said a tanker truck rolled over on State Route 87 in Payson Tuesday morning, prompting an emergency closure of the section. The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 30 miles south of Payson. The vehicle involved was filled with asphalt oil. The cause of the accident is said to be that the driver turned too fast, causing the truck to roll over and 2,000 gallons of emulsified asphalt to tilt on the road. The driver's injuries were not life-threatening. The Department of Safety closed the southern portion of Highway 87 for road clearing and reopened the section early Wednesday morning.
