The National Weather Service said the temperature in downtown Phoenix will rise to record levels.

Meteorologist Jaret Rogers said Saturday that a high-pressure system is moving toward the valley and that temperatures are 10 degrees above normal.

Sunday's expected high temperature is 81 degrees, well above Saturday's high of 73 degrees.

The low on Sunday will be 47 degrees.

Best chance of setting a record this week. Monday, January 29, is expected to hit a record high, surpassing the 83-degree mark set in 1935.

The high temperature is forecast to be a little longer than 80 degrees, while the low will increase to 56 degrees.

High temperatures are expected to remain around 78 degrees for the remainder of next week, while lows may hover around 50 degrees.

Meteorologist Rogers said there is no chance of rain in the urban area next week.
