Ohio Man Shoots Neighbors, Killing 8 and Seriously Injuring 1 More than a dozen gunshots were heard in a quiet town in Cooperley, Ohio, on the morning of the 7th. A man with a gun went on a killing spree in the neighborhood, killing 7 people and seriously injuring 1. The police exchanged gunfire with the gangster at the scene and shot him dead. The local police said, "After the gunman shot and killed his girlfriend in the community, he ran to the neighbor's house next door and killed four people. One body was also found in each of the other two locations in the community." Sergeant Mill said, "The situation is complicated now, and there are four crime locations to be investigated." The Associated Press reported that Elie, a 75-year-old resident of the community, said, "I was getting ready to go to church when there were gunshots and cries for help outside the door. When I walked out of the door, I was petrified by the sight in front of me!" The female neighbor next door was lying on the driveway, her husband fell in front of the garage, and his granddaughter and another woman died in the RV. Ellie said that the neighbor across the street, Betsy Deiter, opened the door and asked him what was going on. Suddenly, Deiter's boyfriend appeared behind her and fired 3 or 4 times at her. "I was frightened and hurriedly hid behind the truck," Elie said. "The gangster was not very friendly and never said hello to the neighbors." The police have not announced the name of the deceased and the motive of the murder. Agence France-Presse reported that the shooting may have been related to a domestic dispute. Neighbors in the community identified the seven dead as the gangster's girlfriend Betsy Deit, her 11-year-old brother Scott Deit, the Johnsons and their 17-year-old granddaughter Orton Johnson. This quiet town has a population of about 14,000 people and is about 64 kilometers away from Cleveland. Local residents were shocked by the horrific shooting in a quiet neighborhood. On the evening of the day of the incident, about 200 residents gathered in the park, lit white candles and paid tribute to the victims and their families.
