from the 7th to the 19th of this month. In the World Youth Chess Championship held in Slovenia on Sunday, four players from the state participated, three of whom were Chinese. The best scorer was 8-year-old Chandler resident Zhuo Kaiwen (transliteration).

Zhuo Kaiwen, who is in second grade, was placed in the under-8 level. There are 136 players in this level and the winner is determined by a knockout tournament. Zhuo Kaiwen was finally eliminated after 11 rounds. It was not easy at such a young age.

A total of 1584 players participated in this World Youth Chess Championship, divided into 12 levels. 152 players represented the United States, with Chinese Americans accounting for the majority.

It is reported that Zhuo Kaiwen will go to Orlando this week to participate in the National Primary and Secondary School Chess Competition.
