Airport security checks will be relaxed for passengers aged 75 (Alberta Times) The government will relax airport security screening procedures for passengers aged 75 and over, and the new rules will be introduced just before the Memorial Day long weekend. Seniors over the age of 75 will no longer be required to take off their shoes, belts or jackets at security checkpoints at New York's three major international airports. "The relaxation of security checks for passengers over 75 years old will be implemented gradually, and passengers will slowly see the implementation of this new rule starting in the summer," said Castleveit, chief spokesman of the Transportation Security Administration. He said there is currently no clear timetable, but New York's three major airports are expected to implement this new rule during the three-day long weekend. The U.S. summer travel season will unofficially kick off over the Memorial Day weekend. The new rule has been successfully tested at Chicago, Denver, Orlando and Portland airports.
