Arizona received $710,000 in federal funds to simplify solar installations (Alberta Times) On December 5, the federal government allocated $710,000 in federal funds to Arizona to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar. The governor said this is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's "Sun Shot" initiative. The initiative is a large-scale effort to make solar energy use more convenient and affordable and accelerate the spread of solar energy in the country. "Arizona has always been at the forefront of solar energy development in the United States and has even been dubbed the 'Sun King,'" Governor Brewer said at a press conference. "This grant will allow solar panels to be installed faster, benefiting more homeowners and businesses. We are even more hopeful that solar will bring high-quality jobs to the state." With this grant, ASU will continue research to reduce costs. The state government encourages residents to voluntarily install and speed up the installation and trial, and strives to complete the trial on the same day through a connection between the five jurisdictions if the entire state allows it. The Governor's Office of Energy Policy Group includes five partners: Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tucson, the University of Arizona's School of Global Sustainability and SmartPower. The U.S. Department of Energy has allocated a total of 12 million in funds this time to reward 22 leading regions across the country that promote the use of solar energy, aiming to improve the efficiency of solar energy use so that it can serve families and businesses more widely. The governor has said: "Arizona's focus on solar and renewable energy through the Arizona Competitiveness Package will significantly increase economic development opportunities and encourage leading companies in this innovative and fast-growing industry to redeploy their operations. ACA (Arizona Commerce Agency) is vigorously promoting Arizona as an ideal place to develop cutting-edge solar technology around the world." Incentives for Arizona's renewable energy companies include: income tax rebates of up to 10% of capital investments, Arizona Competes deal completion fund, income tax rebates of up to $9,000 for each executive's new job, repayable assistance for employee training of up to $1.5 million, research and development tax credits of up to 34%, and significant business tax rebates, including a reduction in the state income tax rate from 6.97% to 4.9%. When it comes to the number of solar power installations, California ranks first, New Jersey, a state not known for its sunshine, ranks second, and Arizona ranks third.
