33 drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving during the July 4 holiday (Alberta Times) Recently, the Traffic Safety Task Force announced that more than 100 drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving during the Independence Day holiday on July 4. On July 4th alone, there were 33 people. A spokesman for the governor's highway safety team said the Department of Transportation detained 108 drunk drivers over the holidays. Under Arizona law, any driver whose blood alcohol content exceeds 0.08% is considered to be driving under the influence. On July 4, the Transportation Bureau sent 460 police officers to the streets to enforce the law, stopping and inspecting 4,400 vehicles, and issuing 1,200 tickets. Most of these drivers were suspected of speeding or drunk driving.
