60,000-square-foot medical center opens in Gilbert Jinxin Real Estate These days, Gilbert officials are celebrating a major event as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announces the site of a major medical center in Gilbert. The address was chosen at the junction of Val Vista and Pecos. The healthcare industry will expand here. The federal department anticipates the building to be two stories tall and 60,000 square feet. The clinic will be ready in the spring of 2014. Illinois-based McShane Development will build the medical center and lease it to the Department of Veterans Affairs for nearly $2 million per year for 20 years. The construction project is expected to create 423 jobs. Town officials estimate the clinic will permanently employ at least 75 people. Federal officials said the clinic will be able to accommodate more than 19,000 veterans for outpatient services in Maricopa County and parts of Pinal and Gila counties. The Department of Veterans Affairs will establish 19 community-based outpatient clinics in Arizona. The clinics will supplement three area major hospitals in Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott. According to the city of Gilbert's economic development documents, nearly 800 high-tech businesses have developed near the project. The economic development plan of the region and the increase of employment opportunities will directly affect the real estate market in Gilbert City.
