Guangzhou Railway Station has entered the Spring Festival travel season, with over 60,000 people stranded (reported by Yang Qiwei, special reporter of The Alberta Times) At present, Guangzhou Railway Station has entered the Spring Festival travel period ahead of schedule. Eight temporary bus canopies with 16 groups built in front of the station square have been officially opened. Each canopy can accommodate 3,000 temporary bus passengers. Among them, No. 15 canopy is reserved for mothers, infants and special objects. It is reported that this year's Spring Festival transportation work started on January 8, more than 10 days earlier than last year. In addition, there are four major flows of college students returning home during the winter vacation, the New Year's Day golden crowd, the recruitment of military recruits, and the Spring Festival tourists returning home to visit relatives. In order to ensure that the Spring Festival transportation is foolproof, the Yuexiu District Public Security Bureau specially added 30 assisting police officers and 20 urban management personnel. At the same time, the Yuexiu District Youth League Committee has organized more than 1,000 volunteers and plans to devote 140 volunteers to serve passengers every day. In terms of convenience services, Guangzhou Railway Station has also prepared 50,000 disposable raincoats, which will be distributed to passengers for free in rainy weather. At the same time, 20 mobile public toilets were installed in the train station square. According to the person in charge of Guangzhou Railway Station, the peak passenger flow of Guangzhou Station during the Spring Festival this year is expected to reach 200,000 people. Although Guangzhou South Railway Station has been officially opened for two years, it has diverted part of the passenger flow of the Pearl River Delta. However, because the passenger flow this year has increased compared with last year, the passenger transportation pressure of Guangzhou Railway Station has not been reduced. It is understood that the number of people stranded in the Guangzhou Railway Station Square has exceeded 60,000. Once the number of people in the Railway Station Square exceeds 80,000, the railway station will activate an emergency plan and open the Liuhua Exhibition Hall as a temporary bus stop. When the number of passengers gathered in the Liuhua area exceeds 150,000, the Liuhua Exhibition Hall, Jinhan Exhibition Center and primary and secondary school campuses around the train station will be fully activated as temporary resettlement sites. If the railway is interrupted for more than 48 hours and the number of stranded passengers reaches 210,000, relevant authorities will coordinate to persuade passengers to stay locally for the New Year.
