Line failure BMW recalls 570,000 vehicles (Alberta Times) BMW is recalling about 570,000 vehicles in North America, including 504,000 in the United States and 65,000 in Canada, because a battery cable connector could fail and cause the engine to stall. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in a document posted on its website on the 16th that the battery cable connector and a fuse box terminal in the recalled vehicle will age over time, which may cause the circuit connection between the battery and the front-end fuse box located near the trunk to be interrupted. If this occurs, the vehicle will lose power, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly. The recall includes the popular 3-Series sedan, wagon, convertible and coupe from 2007 through 2011, as well as the 1 Series coupe and convertible from 2008 through 2012, and the Z4 coupe from 2009 through 2011. BMW said dealers will replace the battery cable connector for free. They will notify owners starting in March. The company is aware of a minor collision in Canada, but no one was injured.
