The Arizona Department of Transportation would announce at 8 p.m. that Highway 17 should be southbound and eastbound, and that Highway 10 westbound be closed until 5 a.m. Tuesday. Winds reached 60 mph that night. The worst-hit area was central Phoenix, where strong winds snapped power poles and caused widespread power outages. About 55,000 homes suffered power outages, while heavy rains caused flooding. In less than an hour, about an inch of rain was dumped on Phoenix.

The National Weather Service has warned that downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Papago Park at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Arizona State University-Tempe may experience flash flooding.
