Grand Canyon National Park officials said that the main road leading to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon will reopen on May 15th, marking the official arrival of the Grand Canyon's summer tourist season. Also opening on May 15 will be the Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim and other facilities on the North Rim, such as camping sites, dining services, food and gift shops, service stations, etc. Arizona Highway 67's road to the North Rim is usually closed in late November each winter, with most facilities closed on October 15. This year's scheduled closure time is the same as in previous years, which means that the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is only open for 5 months each year, while the more popular South Source route is open year-round.
