A 5-year-old child touched the Bible and a heartless father lit a fire and burned his hands. Chandler police arrested a child-abuse father after he burned his 5-year-old son's hand with a lighter, believing he was possessed by fire and touching a Bible. Johnny Salazar, 25, was arrested on Sunday and charged with child abuse. At the time, he was looking after his two sons, aged 5 and 2. The children's grandparents were at church at the time. "Salazar thought his 5-year-old son might be possessed and he didn't want the boy to touch the Bible," said Chandler police officer Fava Zhou. So Salazar lit a lighter and burned the boy's wrists and hands. Salazar's parents came home from church to find their grandson burned and called police. The boy suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. "This is a child abuse case. We don't know whether the person involved is related to illegal drugs or has mental problems and hallucinations," Fawazhou said. Police removed some white crystalline objects from the person's home and are awaiting lab test results to determine if they are illegal drugs. Police finally said the two boys were in Casa Grande with their mother.
