48 banks have closed down in the United States this year. Early morning news on June 25, Beijing time, the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FIDC) said on Friday that fiscal authorities had closed Mountain Heritage Bank, headquartered in Clayton, Georgia. It was the 48th U.S. bank to fail so far in 2011. All deposit accounts at Mountain Heritage Bank, excluding certain brokerage deposits, have been transferred to First American Bank and Trust Co. Mountain Heritage Bank is the 14th Georgia bank to fail so far this year.
