The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles will issue electronic passports starting from April 28. In order to make overseas Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese understand the relevant situation, the Consulate General held a briefing on April 17, inviting major local Chinese media and representatives of overseas Chinese and international students to attend. Professor Chen Junming of the Chinese American Professors and Experts Network and Chen Qin, chairman of the Southwest American Federation of Students, were invited to attend the meeting. The briefing was hosted by Deputy Consul General Sun Weide, and attended by Consul Ye Xiuwei, leader of the document team, and others.

Consul Ye Xiuwei introduced the main features of electronic passports and said that electronic passports can effectively improve anti-counterfeiting and security performance, make Chinese passports more in line with international advanced standards, and have positive significance in facilitating international travel for Chinese citizens. The Consulate General has launched the "Passport Reservation System" in order to improve service levels and make it smoother for applicants to apply for passports. The Consulate General will continue to provide high-quality and convenient services to Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese. Subsequently, relevant staff demonstrated the "Online Form Filling and Appointment System for Overseas Passport Application" on site.
