400 people were arrested for drunk driving over the Labor Day weekend (Alberta Times) The governor's Office of Highway Safety announced Wednesday that nearly 400 people were arrested across the state on suspicion of drunk driving on Saturday and Sunday alone during the Labor Day weekend. This number does not include Labor Day on Monday. A total of 382 arrests were made during the holidays, with nearly a third of those arrested involving drunk driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.15% or higher. More than 40 people were convicted of serious drunk driving. That number is down from the same time last year, when police arrested 617 people on Labor Day.
