The Asia-Pacific Women’s Charity Group of the Province of Asia and the Pacific (hereinafter referred to as the Giving Circle) This year, $10,000 has been distributed to charities in Alberta that support Asian and Pacific women. Beneficiary groups include Arizona South Asians for Safe Families (ASASF) and Asian Pacific Community in Action (APCIA). The funding amount is RMB 5,000 each. ASASF aims to help Asian-Pacific women prevent domestic violence and sexual abuse and enhance their awareness of this, so the funding will also be used for related purposes. APCIA provides health care to help Asian and Pacific Islanders living in Alberta. The subsidy will be allocated for the development of the "Pilot Training Scheme for Elderly Care Workers". Trainees who are successfully trained in this program are expected to provide short-term care to Asian and Pacific Islander elders who are sick or in need and do not understand English well, so as to relieve their families from the fatigue of long-term care. Giving Circle President Grace Lau said the Circle was established to mobilize resources to provide multi-faceted support in health, education, safety and economics to Asian and Pacific Islander women in need in Alberta. Since its establishment in 2014, Giving Circle has distributed $30,000 to related charities. In addition to founder Grace Lau, members include Casssandra Mason-Motz, Eileen Yeung, Amy Gittler, Mary Heiss, Annie Hsu, Kelly Hsu, Leezie Kim, Christine Kovach, Anndi Kwanwmura, Mamiko Odegard, Doris Ong, Elizabeth Roe, Ruth Tan Lim, Astria Wong and Debra Larson.
