The reporter learned from the China (Putian) Straits Arts and Crafts Fair being held in Putian, Fujian that the art fair effectively promoted the exchange and integration of the arts and crafts circles on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In the art fair pavilion, the Taiwan pavilion's exhibition area attracted special attention. Wood carvings, colored glazes, porcelain, glass and other handicrafts representing the highest level of Taiwan's arts and crafts industry were on display one after another. The Taiwan pavilion's booth where glass and ceramic handicrafts were made on-site was even more crowded with visitors. According to the organizer, a total of 7 Taiwanese arts and crafts industry associations will participate in this art fair, with 92 booths, making it the largest in the history of the art fair. Wang Jialin, director of the Putian Municipal Economic and Trade Commission, said that the art fair, as the largest professional exhibition in the arts and crafts industry on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, has effectively promoted economic and cultural exchanges between the arts and crafts industries on both sides of the Taiwan Strait since its first session in 2006. "In Putian Arts and Crafts City alone, there are more than 30 Taiwanese entrepreneurs and artists who have opened shops and studios. The artists who mainly exchange agarwood and sandalwood in Putian Arts and Crafts City are basically Taiwanese compatriots." Wang Jialin said. The exchange of cross-strait artworks has promoted the mutual exchange and integration of cross-strait cultures, and cultural exchanges have brought about economic exchanges. Wang Jialin told reporters that since the art fair was held, many Taiwanese entrepreneurs and artists have come to mainland China to invest in the arts and crafts industry. "Currently, Putian's Taiwanese arts and crafts masters' return from business in the mainland has exceeded their income from the Taiwan market." Zhang Jiaqi, director general of the Sanyi Woodcarving Association in Miaoli County, Taiwan, said that Taiwanese design and mainland manufacturing can be completely integrated. "It is my dream and my future to promote the arts and crafts from both sides of the Taiwan Strait internationally and embark on the road of internationalization," said Zhang Jiaqi. The 6th China (Putian) Straits Arts and Crafts Expo was held in Putian, Fujian from April 28 to May 2.
