"World Environment Day" Hong Kong holds colorful activities to promote environmental protection June 5 is the annual "World Environment Day". The Hong Kong Environmental Campaign Committee held a number of activities that day to promote environmental awareness among the public and called on all walks of life to join forces to fight climate change. On the morning of the same day, the "Low Carbon Short Film Fun Competition", which aims to encourage citizens to practice low-carbon life, held an award ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza. Since the launch of this competition in February, a total of about 80 short films have been received. The conference also invited college students who have participated in Antarctic expeditions to give speeches to analyze the threats posed by climate change and encourage young people to take action to promote environmental protection. Permanent Secretary for the Environment Bureau and Director of Environmental Protection Department of the SAR Government, Ms Ong Sin-yee, attended the event and said that low-carbon life can be very simple. As long as everyone takes a small step and makes slight changes in the details of life, they can reduce carbon emissions and contribute to improving the environment. Citizens can also promote this concept to their family and friends and work hard to build Hong Kong into a greener and lower-carbon city. In the afternoon of that day, a lecture with the theme of "World Environment Day" was held at the Hong Kong Science Museum. As one of the series of lectures on "Global Warming and Climate Change", the day's event invited a number of environmentalists to share their environmental experiences with the audience on topics such as "Man and Nature", "Environmentally Friendly Buildings and Urban Ecology" and "Hong Kong's Biodiversity Conservation".
