Ma Ying-jeou, chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang and current leader of the Taiwan authorities, held a press conference at his re-election office on the 19th to announce Wu Dunyi as his deputy for the next Taiwan leader.

> Wu Dunyi is currently the head of the administrative agency of the Taiwan authorities. He once served as the county magistrate of Nantou County, Mayor of Kaohsiung City, public opinion representative and secretary-general of the Chinese Kuomintang. In September 2009, he took over as the head of the administrative agency of the Taiwan authorities.

Ma Ying-jeou was nominated by the Central Standing Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang on April 27 and will represent the Kuomintang in the election of the next leader of the Taiwan region. This nomination still needs to be approved by the second session of the 18th National Congress of the Kuomintang to be held on June 25.

The next Taiwan leader election is scheduled to be held in January 2012. Currently, Tsai Ing-wen, who will run on behalf of the Democratic Progressive Party, has not yet determined her deputy.
