Phoenix home sales hit new highs in January, condos see the biggest jumps California news reports Phoenix home sales rose in January, hitting the highest January sales in the past five years. A total of 7,123 homes were sold. That's down 17.9% from the previous month, but 3.2% higher than the same period last year. Home sales in January were 3.1% below the average since 1994. This is largely because the number of new home sales remains sluggish. Existing home sales were 17.5% above average, the highest since January 2006. New home sales are still 66% below average sales. Compared with last year, the sales of houses with less than 100,000 yuan fell by 7.3%, the sales of houses with 100,000 to 200,000 yuan increased by 3.3%, the sales of houses with 200,000 to 600,000 yuan increased by 9%, and the sales of houses with more than 800,000 yuan also increased by 3.6%. The median home sale price in Phoenix is $127,500, down 1.2% from last month but up 7.1% from this time last year. The average price of a single-family home in January was $125,900, up 0.7% from the previous month and 5% from last year. Apartment prices are up 9% from last year.
