> Advance Parole is a document that allows certain foreigners to re-enter the United States without an immigrant visa or non-immigrant visa after leaving the United States for a period of time. Foreign nationals must apply for and obtain a reentry permit before leaving the United States. If they do not obtain a reentry permit before leaving the United States, they must enter the United States with another valid visa when they return to the United States. If the green card holder knows that he will stay outside the United States for more than one year before leaving the United States, the green card holder can apply for a "Reentry Permit" before leaving the United States. A re-entry permit allows the holder of a green card to stay outside the United States for no more than two years. The applicant takes the initiative to apply for a reentry permit, indicating that the applicant wants to return to the United States after leaving the United States for more than one year, which proves that the applicant has the intention to make the United States his permanent residence.

The re-entry permit is valid for no more than two years and must be applied for while in the United States, but you do not need to wait for the approval of the re-entry permit in the United States. The re-entry permit cannot be renewed, but you can return to the United States after two years and obtain a new re-entry permit. You can be absent from the United States for up to six years, but if you are outside the United States for longer than the permitted period, you will need a special immigrant visa. In addition, the application for a reentry permit needs to be completed in the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service’s Form 131.

The re-entry permit itself will not prevent the entry-exit port staff from discovering that you have given up your permanent resident status, but it at least prevents customs officials from judging whether you have given up your permanent resident status based on the length of stay overseas while the re-entry permit is valid. However, port agents may still investigate your time outside the United States, not as a reflection of intent, but to find out whether activities outside the United States are related to your admission. Staff can also determine whether a reentry permit was obtained through fraud or misrepresentation. It is not easy to obtain U.S. immigration status, but many domestic investment immigrants still plan to live in China in the short term, or hope to slowly settle their families in the United States after a transition period. For these people, a reentry permit is indeed very useful.
