China News Service, December 12 According to foreign media reports on the 12th, US President Trump (Donald Trump) Trump said the explosion that killed several people at the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan highlighted "the need to reform the immigration system."
The White House issued a statement after the attack, criticizing the current immigration system for allowing Akayed Ullah, the suspect who carried out the attack, to immigrate to the country through relatives in the United States.
The New York police stated that Ullah was influenced by the extremist organization "Islamic State", but had no direct connection with the organization. The police also said that according to Ullah's plan, this was a suicide attack, but it failed in the end.
In addition to Ullah, the attack has injured at least three people so far, including a police officer.
US media reported that Ulla, now 27 years old, moved to the United States from Bangladesh with her parents on an immigrant visa in 2011.
White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders revealed that Ullah holds an F43 visa. That means he is the son of an F41 visa holder, which is usually issued to a 21-year-old sibling of a U.S. citizen.
Trump once said that he would end "joint immigration" like Ullah who obtained a visa through family ties. Sanders said that if the authorities had implemented Trump's plan, Ullah would not have been able to immigrate to the United States that year.
Trump announced earlier that he would ban nationals from several countries from entering the United States, causing controversy. Bangladesh is not included in the ban.
New York police stated that Ullah holds U.S. permanent resident status and gave a confession during his detention, but the police refused to disclose what he said.
