Sacrificing life for righteousness Wang Zhai Xian Mencius said: "Life is what I want; righteousness is also what I want. You can't have both, and one who sacrifices life for righteousness is the one who sacrifices life for righteousness." However, Cheng Zi, a great Confucian sage, once said: "Zhongni only said one word for benevolence, and Mencius said: benevolence and righteousness." However, what Mencius said at the beginning is that there is only benevolence and righteousness. Its origin still comes from Confucius. Because in the second chapter of the Book of Changes, it is said: "The way to establish a person is benevolence and righteousness." Mencius started talking about righteousness, which is the basis of this. It is so good that Confucius guided the way of building people with the two words of benevolence and righteousness. From this, we can call them the prophets of our Chinese nation. The essence of Confucian philosophy encourages us to sacrifice our lives in order to be martyred, and not to sacrifice our lives in order to survive. In our temporary life today, how can we truly sacrifice our lives for righteousness? If we want to talk about sacrificing our lives for righteousness, we must first understand what "righteousness" is? According to the interpretation of the vocabulary, "meaning" means fair and appropriate words and actions. And unrighteousness means not having fair and appropriate words and actions. The apostle Paul once said about this unrighteousness: "Since they deliberately did not know God, God gave them over to an evil heart to do unreasonable things, full of all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, malice, full of envy, murder, emulation, deceit, malice, slanderers, fabricators of evil, disobedient to parents, ignorant, covenant breakers, unmerciful. Even though they knew God has judged that those who do these things deserve to die. However, they not only do it themselves but also like others to do it. In their small lives, unrighteous people only know how to do evil and sell their spiritual lives. They do not know or think about what they should do in life. Of course, they are indifferent to the matter of "justification", let alone "sacrifice their lives for righteousness". So, who is a righteous person? Those who can truly be called righteous must be called "righteous" by the only person in the universe. Only then can they be regarded as legitimate righteous people. If the kind of justification that people in the world call righteous people is worthy of consideration, what kind of righteous people are in the eyes of God? The apostle Paul tells us: "Everyone in the world has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." But now we are justified by God's grace, through Christ Jesus, who is a propitiation for us free by faith through his blood, to demonstrate the righteousness of God, because in his longsuffering he endures former sins, so that he can demonstrate his righteousness in this present time, so that he himself is righteous and the justifier of those who believe in him. Abraham believed God and this was accounted to him as righteousness. David said, “Blessed is he who is imputed righteous by God. He is imputed righteous.” This sentence was written not only for him, but also for those of us who will be imputed righteous in the future, that is, those of us who believe in God and raised our Lord Jesus from the dead. Because Jesus was handed over to die on the cross for our sins so that we might be justified. Just as sin reigned in death, so grace reigns through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 3:23-26) From Paul’s words, we can know that an unrighteous person, in order to become a righteous person in the eyes of God, must believe in Jesus and rely on the precious blood of the Lord to have his sins forgiven before he can be justified by God. We are justified by God in the Holy Spirit, sent by God, and walk with God, and we have the responsibility to preach the way of righteousness. (Genesis 6:9) This sacred work of preaching righteousness sometimes requires the sacrifice of life for the Lord. Only the spirit of sacrificing one's life to save righteousness can lead to happiness. Then, who inspires us to have this spirit of sacrificing our lives for righteousness? He is Jesus Christ, because the Scripture says: "It is rare to die for a righteous man, but no one dares to die for a righteous man. But God demonstrates his love for us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:7-8) He also says, "I have been crucified with Christ, and the life I live now is not that I live, but that I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." ” (Gal. 2, 20) The ancient saints laid down their lives for the Lord to preach righteousness because they deeply realized how great the love of Christ is. Nothing in the world can separate them from God's love. Except for God's love that inspired them to sacrifice their lives for righteousness, the Lord Jesus told them that there was a wonderful hometown in heaven that God had prepared for them. , and will come again to greet them when the time comes. (John 14:1-4) Because they can understand the way of life and death that they are born before they die, and they know that life is just like a flower that comes out and flies away like a shadow, life is a temporary stay, and death is a great return. By being martyred for the Lord, they can stay forever in the Book of Life of the Lamb of God and be justified by God. Dear brothers, sisters, elders and co-workers, we are all loyal servants of the spiritual kingdom of God and citizens of the land of China. We are bought by God with precious blood from all nations, tribes and peoples, and belong to God. We hold the kingship of the earth, ride on white horses, hold spiritual swords in our hands, fight heroes, and spread the truth like flying eagles, testify for Jesus, endure hardships and fear God’s name. Righteous people who are martyred for the Lord and sacrifice their lives for righteousness. The Analects of Confucius says: "Since ancient times, there has been death, and people cannot stand without faith. "Some people kill themselves to achieve benevolence, and mothers seek life to harm benevolence." Sima Qian said: "Death is heavier than Mount Tai, and lighter than a feather." The Lord Jesus exhorted: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain.” If it dies, it will bear much fruit. He who loves his life will lose it; but whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternity. "(John 12:22-25) Taishan and Hongmao, sacrifice your life for righteousness or abandon righteousness and live a secret life, it is your choice, but I pray that you can glorify God and benefit people, and live up to this life. I am willing to encourage each other, Amen.
