Yang Qiwei: The magnificent Huntington Manor in Guangzhou The famous Huntington Manor in Southern California is open to the public for free every Thursday. My niece Tingting booked 6 tickets online early. Early Thursday morning, my cousin and niece drove, and the whole family accompanied my husband and I to visit this prestigious place. Huntington Manor is not far from Los Angeles, just a few dozen minutes’ drive away. The manor covers an area of 207 acres and was originally owned by California railroad king, millionaire and art collector Henry. Huntington's private property was donated to the state after Huntington's death. Now, the manor has become a tourist attraction in Southern California. The manor is divided into three large areas: art gallery, library and botanical garden. The art gallery is Henry. Huntington's residence during his lifetime was very luxurious and luxurious. We first visited the art gallery and library. The two white palace-style buildings hidden among the lush trees are spectacular, exquisitely constructed and magnificent. On the lawn surrounded by flowers and plants outside the museum, there are a large number of well-preserved stone carvings from the 18th century. The works of famous craftsmen who came from the historical tunnel stand solemnly in formation, making visitors dizzy and feel as if they have returned to the 18th century. The art museum has a large collection of European Renaissance paintings, eighteenth-century sculptures, brocades, porcelain and furniture. What surprised us most was the exquisite clock presented by Rosa Petersen in 1790. It has been preserved quite well. After being tempered for a long time, the clock is still gleaming and as bright as new. The library contains more than 600,000 volumes, including millions of original manuscripts by scholars, as well as unique and rare books, including the world's first movable-type printed Bible, the first edition of Shakespeare's plays, the autobiography manuscript of founding father Franklin, and "Walton's Notes" written by the great American writer Thoreau in 1854, etc. These precious collections reflect the history and human culture of about ten centuries from different levels. We admire the fact that history can be so completely presented to future generations. After visiting the art gallery and library, we went around to the large greenhouse of rare flowers and the children's area behind the two museums for a brief visit. I really like the design inside the large greenhouse. The greenhouse environment here is very realistic. Once you enter, you feel like you have entered a primeval forest. In the tropical rainforest greenhouse, the branches are covered with epiphytes, and climbing plants form a green curtain above our heads. There is water mist spraying around, making the air moist, cool and comfortable, which is completely different from the heat outside. This is a place dedicated to science and education for children. There are many scientific and technological facilities. I saw many children, led by their mothers, exploring the mysteries of tropical forest animals and plants here. There are also Children’s Pool, where many children are playing happily and enjoying themselves. Looking at these children who are as happy as birds, my mood suddenly becomes happy.
