Phoenix City is full of energy: a beautiful son and a beautiful wife. The auspicious date for the wedding of my second son Guofeng and Qiong Yao was the auspicious day of November 11, Friday, which I had chosen since last year. It was finally held as scheduled and was a complete success. Relatives and friends all congratulated me. While congratulating me on my great success, they also did not forget to congratulate me on "a good son and a good wife", that is, congratulating my good son on getting a good wife. All words of congratulations are beautiful, and of course I am grateful for the heartfelt blessings from my relatives and friends. What can be better than being respected by a beautiful son and a beautiful woman in my later years, and truly enjoying the blessing of being a father and a master! "You have to be a good master, and when you drink tea with your heart, you should be rewarded with a big fortune!" A year ago, I learned that it was a national custom to choose auspicious weddings, and my friends started teasing me one after another. In Cantonese, the word "heart embrace" means daughter-in-law. The ancient pronunciation of "bride" has changed. Relatively speaking, my wife and I have become "father-in-law and mother-in-law", and they are verbally addressed as "master and grandma". Since he has been crowned the second master, he should be prepared to drink tea to "profit the market". "Good luck" is a red envelope that comes in handy for happy events. It contains coins. "Good luck brings great luck." This is what the recipient usually expects. "Please give me a red paper for your meaning." It is the expression of the giver. However, as a gentleman, the red envelope should not be too "small". At least the red envelope should be big, so you must "look at it carefully". At this wedding, some relatives and friends were not sure about the tea ceremony for the bride at first. The reason was that the invitation stated that the wedding would be held at Doubletree Paradise Valley resort in Scottsdale. The wedding ceremony was held at 4:30, with waiting at 5 and sitting down at 6. It was obviously a Western style. How could there be time to "drink tea"? In fact, this is not the case. The wedding of Guofeng and Qiong Yao on Friday, November 11, can be regarded as unique, using a Chinese-Vietnamese-American hybrid ceremony. First of all, traditional Chinese customs should be maintained. On the eve of the wedding, the bride and groom cannot meet each other. They prepare wedding etiquette at home, decorate the home, hang garlands and decorations, paste couplets on the door, double combs, comb their hair, etc. On the morning of the wedding day, the groom's family was busy decorating the float for the "Welcome to the Zhou Mansion". The sedan was originally scheduled to leave for the groom's family at 9:30, and the bride would come back at 11:00. Unfortunately, due to various arrangements, the time was delayed, and the wedding time was delayed; but it didn't matter, "If you have the intention, don't be afraid of delay", it is all a good day in six days. All these preparation details include the traditional Chinese custom of the groom going to the bride's house on a float to welcome her, the traditional custom of the bridesmaids blocking the door to prevent the bride from marrying easily, and the Chinese etiquette of the bride serving tea to her elders. As for "excessive gifts", formerly known as "nazheng", it is also a traditional etiquette and is usually performed before the wedding. However, considering the inconvenience of living in the American community environment, everything was kept simple and decided to be done together with the wedding ceremony. Therefore, in addition to the best man, four good brothers accompanied the bride. Each of them held a gift box and presented it to the bride's family. We used five Vietnamese gift boxes because the round gift boxes, raised lids, and covered with double-necked red silk are beautiful to read. The gift box contains four treasures of jewelry, betrothal gold and profit, dragon and phoenix flower candles, dragon and phoenix gift cakes, betel nuts and tangerines, foreign wine and pomegranates, as well as auspicious lotus seeds, lilies, etc. I asked He Jinlian to act as the eldest sister and help me. After presiding over this wedding ceremony, he arrived at the bride's house, where the five bridesmaids received the gifts and then returned the gifts. The groom went to the bride's house and became the new son-in-law. After a ceremony, he married the bride and went home. The dragon and phoenix candles were lit, and the bride served tea. Pang was very busy. Oh! Just like this, the Chinese and Vietnamese-style etiquette was finished, and the newlyweds and five pairs of groomsmen and bridesmaids rushed to the hotel to prepare for a Western-style wedding ceremony in the hotel grounds at 4:30 pm. The grandparents, my eldest son and my daughter also had to entertain other relatives and friends from out of state for lunch, then go home to get dressed up, and then rush to the Doubletree Garden of the Hilton Hotel to attend a Western-style wedding and banquet. I saw a temporary ceremony stage set up in the hotel garden. The bride formally wore a wedding dress, and the legal witnesses presided over the wedding. The groomsmen and bridesmaids entered the venue first, and the five couples were completed. Then the groom came on stage, and the father-in-law led the bride to the groom. There was also a pair of flower girls who scattered flowers and played the "Wedding March" grandly. The bride and groom put on wedding rings and swore to officially become husband and wife. This is my "beautiful son and beautiful woman". The wedding ceremony in the morning was just in accordance with tradition. It's just a custom. It continued with a simple meal by the lakeside before the dinner, allowing the guests and hosts to relax. Finally, there was the wedding banquet, hosted by Fang Huixian, which made the relatives and friends not puzzled. The whole house burst into laughter. The bride and groom also performed very well. The husband and wife sang songs, the groom recited poems to express his love, and the bride's heartfelt confessions, all left an unforgettable impression on relatives and friends. I have such a beautiful son and a beautiful woman, who truly comforts me.
