An empty cup can hold more things. Giving up does not mean giving up on yourself, but comes from a broader persistence. When you look at a mountain but it is not a mountain, and when you look at a water it is not water, once you pass this state, the water will fall and the stone will come out. . . . . There is a Zen saying: During the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, heroes were competing for the throne, and wind and smoke were everywhere. In order to accommodate people's hearts, stabilize the country, and also to eliminate disasters and pray for blessings, the King of Fujian began to believe in Buddhism. So he asked the great Zen master to serve as the national teacher to teach him the Dharma and give him guidance. One day in 928 AD, the King of Fujian paid a visit to the ancient Buddha of Kuabing in the West Lake of Fuzhou and asked for strategies for governing the country. No matter how much the King of Fujian tried to flatter him, the ancient Buddha of Kuabing remained silent and drank tea by himself. The King of Min did not care about tea, but the ancient Buddha kept adding tea to the King of Min's cup. Seeing that the tea in King Min's cup was about to overflow, Kuanbing Ancient Buddha had no intention of stopping adding tea. When the King of Min saw the tea flowing all over the table, he looked surprised and asked: "Master, the cup is already full, why do you still need to add tea?" The Ancient Buddha of Kuabing remained silent and continued to add tea to his cup. The King of Min replied: "The King of Min wondered: Do you still need to learn how to drink tea?" The ancient Buddha said: "Your heart is like this cup. It is already full. If you don't drink the tea and empty the cup, how can you hold anything else?" "Only an empty cup can hold water, an empty house can be inhabited, and an empty valley can carry sound... The use value of every container lies in its emptiness. There is a saying: the sea is open to all rivers, and tolerance is great. Emptiness is a kind of measure and mind, emptiness is the possibility and premise of existence, and emptiness is the initial cause and condition of existence. Therefore, there is "empty everything" in the Buddhist scriptures. It can be seen that "empty" is the highest state of life. Life is like tea, and there is endless good tea and endless joy and emotion. Being able to understand that giving up is a kind of wisdom, but every time you give up, it must be a sublimation, otherwise this kind of giving up is meaningless. There is no need to give up; every choice must be a sublimation, otherwise don't choose. "When the water is exhausted, sit back and watch the clouds rise." When the process of life reaches a turning point, giving up at the right time and making wise choices are more important than hard work. A philosopher said that each age group should do different things: be healthy and beautiful at the age of twenty, have common sense at the age of thirty, have money at the age of forty, and have wisdom at the age of fifty. The tea in the cup of life will often change. Every failure or success is contained in the tea cup of our life. All we have to do is to make your tea cup empty when your tea cup is full. If you want to taste another good tea, life is like tea. If the cup is empty, there will be endless good tea and endless joy and excitement...
