Yang Jiqun: Chinese people celebrate Christmas. Christmas Eve is equivalent to New Year’s Eve in the old Chinese calendar. It is a festival that people pay special attention to. Since coming to the United States, we have followed the local customs, and we have gradually paid more attention to the holiday of Christmas. Our family and a group of Chinese friends will celebrate Christmas grandly. On Christmas Eve this year, our whole family will be together and we will make dumplings. This is probably the most different thing from American families. Family members are usually busy on their own and rarely have the opportunity to get together. It is a joy to be together on Christmas. We make dumplings that look like gold ingots while laughing and chatting. It’s a great time! I was thinking that life is like this, we gather and disperse in a hurry, and everyone should cherish the time we spend together. As an old man who is nearly 80 years old, I would rather see the next generation, the next generation of young people, happy and joyful. Every parent hopes that their children will unite and love each other, help each other, understand and tolerate each other, and treat each other honestly. I am afraid this is the wish of all elderly people! Our family’s Christmas Eve passed peacefully and in a harmonious atmosphere after eating dumplings, a traditional Chinese food. On Christmas Day the next day, another bigger party awaited us. My son-in-law’s niece’s family invited six other Chinese friends to spend Christmas at her huge new home. Our whole family was there with friends again. On this occasion, I became the grandmother of the fourth generation of children. I saw so many young people (actually they are all over 40-60) gathered together enthusiastically and cheerfully. Among them were Mr. Liu who returned to Fengcheng from Beijing to celebrate the holidays. My daughter-in-law, and Ms. Cui from New York, really come from all over the world, and they are all together, talking about their own experiences, talking about all kinds of news and interesting things, and laughing and laughing. This group of Chinese intellectuals They are all brave pioneers working hard in various industries and positions in the United States. Looking at this group of energetic and confident young people, I can't help but have various emotions. First of all, I feel that I am old! Life has entered a countdown. However, I get encouragement and hope from this group of happy people. I think that although I am old, I should not accept old age, do not stay old, and should do my best to do things that are beneficial to others and myself. While I was thinking about it, I suddenly heard the host invite me to sit down for dinner. So a dozen men and women sat down, clinked glasses and blessed each other. ah! Lamb shabu-shabu is another authentic Chinese meal. In a corner of Fengcheng in the United States, a group of Chinese people are holding small bowls filled with various seasonings, shabu-shabu shabu-shabu with mutton, beef, chicken, fish, shrimp and other meats as well as various vegetables, vermicelli, Tofu and others were chatting and joking while toasting each other. The lively scene was indescribable. Everyone was sweating and steaming after eating. After the meal, there were various desserts and ice cream. The feast of Chinese and Western meals ended late at night. Although there are no fireworks or door gods at Christmas here, there are colorful and beautiful lanterns of various shapes in front of every house, and the flowers are blooming, which is enchanting. This year’s Christmas has passed with such joy. I wish that next Christmas, the country will be prosperous and people will be more joyful and spend the holiday in a relaxed and happy way. 2011. 12. 27
