Long’s Self-Report: Let’s tell you about my past and present lives (Pictures) (Alberta Times) You ask me how old I am this year, and even I can’t tell you. And about my family...

Local families

(Alberta Times)

If you ask me how old I am this year, even I can’t tell you. As for the history of my family, it has been passed down from generation to generation through my grandfather’s grandfather. Although my tribe is found in many places in the world, only in the land of China do people take pride in me and respect me, and I am willing to integrate with this land. I heard that this year here is the Year of the Dragon in my name, so I will tell you about my past and present life. Birth Chapter: The shape of nine things combined exists between thoughts. According to my ancestors, a long time ago, my ancestors fell into the world and could only lie on the ground in sorrow. A large number of people and even dignitaries traveled hundreds of miles to watch this giant and rare creature. It has a strong fishy smell, is covered with fish scales, has four claws, tentacles around its mouth, and has two or one horns on its head, which are stuck on the ground. On land, it even has difficulty moving, looking downcast like a bereaved dog. When people pour buckets of water on it, the scales on its body will open and close, and can even pinch the flies and ants surrounding it. The ancient people kindly built a shelter for it and watered it to ease its pain, until it took off under the heavy rain. My ancestors were a synthesis of many animals, and were worshiped by humans in primitive societies. It has shrimp eyes, antlers, an ox's mouth, a dog's nose, a catfish's whiskers, a lion's mane, a snake's tail, a fish's scales, and an eagle's claws. Nine animals merge into one and nine different images. Growth chapter: We changed from 2 claws to 5 claws. Our image is also constantly changing. The dragon claws did not have five claws at the beginning, but developed from two claws to five claws through various dynasties. From about 7,000 years ago to the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties to the Qin and Han Dynasties, we mostly had two crescent-shaped claws. From the Han Dynasty to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the feet mostly had three toes. This image was basically fixed until the Yuan Dynasty. You can see our figures printed on the porcelain of the Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties. Four-clawed and five-clawed dragon designs have become popular since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. However, only the royal family can use the five-clawed dragon shape, while the folk can only use the three-clawed or four-clawed dragon pattern. Functions: I have given you the zodiac sign since the Han Dynasty. In addition to bringing you spiritual feelings of joy, auspiciousness, power, etc., I also have the practical ability of jujube to record the year, which not only records the year of the day and night, but also records the year of each person. For the former, just control the 12 zodiac signs and 12 places, including mine. When it is my turn, I will be "Chen Long", and anyone born in this year will naturally be a dragon. And I am the only non-natural animal among the 12 zodiac signs. Wang Chong of the Eastern Han Dynasty proposed 11 animal zodiac signs. Zhao Ye of the same dynasty recorded "Wu Zaichen, whose position is dragon", which just added "Chen Long" to complete the 12 zodiac signs. Therefore, the 12 zodiac signs have been formed in the Eastern Han Dynasty. As for the use of the 12 zodiac signs, it has appeared at least in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. I am the fifth among the 12 zodiac animals. It is said that the cow was originally pushed to be the first, but the mouse jumped on the cow's back, so the mouse ranked first, the cow second, and the tiger and dragon ranked third and fourth. Unexpectedly, the rabbit refused to accept it and raced with me. It ended up in front of me, and I was ranked fifth. Wealth and Honor: The association between dragons and emperors also dates back to the Han Dynasty. In fact, our family is also extremely glorious in your history. Emperors of various dynasties called themselves the "True Dragon Emperor", and the dragon also symbolized power. Things related to the emperor are also marked with dragon marks, such as "dragon bed", "dragon face", "dragon robe", etc. In fact, it starts with mythology. According to legend, the ancestors of mankind, Fuxi and Nuwa, both had the body of a dragon and a human head (or a snake body and a human head), and were also known as the "Dragon Ancestors." Other ancestors, Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang, are said to have a close relationship with dragons. According to legend, Emperor Yan was born after his mother sensed the "dragon head" and turned into a red dragon after his death. "Historical Records" says that the Yellow Emperor and the people mined copper mines in Shoushan Mountain, cast the mined copper into a large copper tripod, and placed it at the foot of Jingshan Mountain. When the bronze tripod was built, a dragon hung down from its beard to greet the Yellow Emperor, and the Yellow Emperor rode on the dragon's back and ascended to heaven. As descendants of the Yan and Huang emperors, the Chinese called themselves "descendants of the dragon." The relationship between dragons and emperors dates back to the Han Dynasty, when Liu Bang told others that his father was a red dragon. From then on, the emperor's body was called "dragon body", his face was called "dragon face", the clothes he wore were called "dragon robes", the chair he sat on was called "dragon chair", the bed he slept on was called "dragon bed", and even the emperor's descendants were called "dragon sons and grandsons". In the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the dragons on the emperor's dragon robes and in the palace became five-clawed dragons. However, the Chinese people do not like the dragon that represents imperial power. They like us folk. This kind of dragon does not have the majesty of the imperial power. It is an auspicious creature that can bring joy and celebration to people. This is the emotion that continues to my family to this day.
